I shifted to Burari (Delhi) in July 2018. Being a retired teacher I took an initiative of educating street hawker children after noticing poor educational atmosphere in surrounding areas. I think the teaching profession contributes more to the future of our society than any other single profession, so I requested one of my colleague to be a part of this initiative in order to contribute towards achieving my educational goal.
The journey was not so easy to begin as the first challenge was space, which was further resolved by our society management, who offered us space in parking area. It was the movement when we started Shraddha Seva Sanstha (NGO) on 29 Sept. 2019. The other challenge was to convince the parents of the street hawker children to send their children for starting education. We received mixed responses from parents but we still worked hard and converted negative responses to positive by providing free books stationary and other necessary items.
Our hard work resulted when we received positive response from 15-20 parents who agreed to send their children to Shraddha Seva Sanstha (NGO) for education.
Shraddha was founded in year 2019 by retired teacher who further brought group together to contribute towards the betterment of society with the focus on child education holistic, child development and women empowerment Shraddha dreams of a world where every child is showered and given opportunities for their bright future. Children of these slum dwellers don't get access to basic education and instead have started working to support their family. At such a tender age they are forced to grow up in haste and suffer the loss of their innocence and childhood. It is our duty to do our best in ensuring equal advancement of all section in the Society.
Starting at grass-root level Shraddha has started educating these children free of cost. Children in Shraddha are being taught Hindi, English, and Mathematics with positive habits, cleanliness and discipline. Shraddha also focuses of co-curricular activities of these children including dance, singing and painting which play a vital role in child-welfare programme.
We are trying to bring the children under one roof that is stuck in rag picking, shoe-polishing begging along with those kids who have never been to school because of poverty.
The journey of Shraddha as a registered NGO began in 2019. It was established by like-minded people to provide education to underprivileged children to built better lively hood opportunities for the rural and underprivileged urban youth to enrich quality health service for adolescent girls and women.
